The Cold Shoulder

I took a peek at how the weather is supposed to pan out later this week. I was really excited to see that we are getting closer and closer to summer like temperatures. Inspired, I decided to focus on the feminine trend of shoulder exposed pieces. Being able to show off a bit of skin on top call for more coverage on the bottom half in order to keep your look classy. Whether you try a top with cut outs on the shoulders or a dress with just one strap, play with different pieces to see which styles flatter your figure best.

One way to wear this style is to pair a loose dolman inspired top with a more fitted bottom. In Jessica Szohr's case, she decided on a black and white bandage skirt to create some shape, which would have been hidden if paired with a flowy skirt.

Here's how to create a similar look:

Top: Dolman Slub Sweater $22.00 (Wet Seal)
Skirt: Pleasure Doing Business Skirt Snake $285.00 (Jades 24)
Sandals: Michael Antonio Gentry Platform $46.00 (Endless)

More Options:

Last Frost Mint and Cream Dress $61.00 (Lulu's)

New Romantics One Shoulder Top $98.00 (Free People)

Merry in Rosemary Romper $52.99 (Modcloth)

Lamixx Off Shoulder Dress $34.00 (Threadsence)

Here's a piece from my wardrobe:

Lush Bow Top $16.97 (Nordstrom Rack)

Though the top is drapey, paired with skinny jeans, the denim will help to balance out the look. I also plan on belting this top to help define a waistline. The higher neckline adds a touch of modesty so that even with the cut outs in the shoulders, you aren't showing too much skin.
