Bat Those Lashes

There's nothing quite like the perfect mascara to coat those tiny lashes to make them look almost as good as false lashes! I've gone through my fair share of mascaras and thought I'd review some of the recent ones I've tried and let you know what I think.

Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara $25.00

This mascara definitely delivered on volume, and creating thicker looking lashes. However I wasn't a fan of the chemical like scent. Overall I'd give this one a 3/5

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara $14.50

This is what I am currently stashing in my makeup bag. Though I do wish the formula provided more volume, the mascara creates long lashes without flaking or clumping! Plus it defines each and every lash, avoiding sticking, and in turn rivals some falsies I have come across. I give this one a 4.5/5

Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara $19.50

I thought I'd really like this mascara, and thought the big brush would make for long lashes but I was pretty disappointed. Not only did this formula clump my lashes, it dried out really fast! Wouldn't recommend this one 2/5

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara $21.00

I didn't find this mascara to be anything special, but it did the job. Provided decently long and thick lashes but is sort of a forgettable formula. I give this one a 3/5

In addition, no mascara works well alone! I like to curl my lashes before I put on my mascara and after I've applied a coat. I've been using this  KOJI curler for about 2 years now and I still haven't found one that I like better than this one. Picked this one up during my trip to Japan, but you can also find this one online!

Pretty Pastels

Happy easter everyone! I thought I'd get into the spirit by incorporating the holiday into my post today. Inspired by pastel colored easter eggs I wanted to focus on pastel nailcolors! The light shades are so feminine and provide just the right dose of girly-ness to your outfit! Personally the pastel lilac shades are my favorite. What's yours?

Beach Queen

Oh Lauren. How I envy your perfect sense of style and perfect beach waves. I was scanning my bookshelf this afternoon and spotted the Lauren Conrad Style book! All the pages are filled with great ideas on how to mix inexpensive basics with higher end statement pieces. If you haven't had a chance to look through this book, I highly recommend doing so!

Anyways, here's a look that caught my eye!

Here Comes the Sun

Ever have one of those pieces in your closet that you think would only work for one particular occasion? Perusing through the racks, I found this lovely coral bow dress at Marshalls for only $20! While I was in the dressing room I was thinking that this dress would only work for either a party or fancy dinner. But then I started thinking of how I could make the dress more casual by adding a few accessories. For the fancier look I added some bow heels and a black clutch. Perfect for a night out! For a more casual look, I traded the heels for some flat sandals, added a white cardigan, and a large book bag. Just the right touches to make this dress appropriate for school or a trip out to the store. I love how the right accessories can make one piece perfect for multiple occasions!

California Here We Come

Here's a look from one of my style inspirations Rachel Bilson. Recently I've been on an OC kick and decided to pay homage to one of my favorite shows! It's been so nice lately in Seattle. This look screams spring to me. You have the dark denim shorts to get a head start on that tan, but also have a comfy cardigan to shield yourself from those chilly spring mornings!

Feel Good Fashion

First post! So after wanting to create a fashion blog for a while now, I finally decided to actually make one! After looking through some other fashion blogs I was inspired to create my own. As I go forward with this project, I have a few goals in mind that I'd like to achieve along the way!

  • create similar celebrity outfits for less
  • write reviews on beauty products that I discover (I'll let you know if it's worth the $$)
  • put together outfits from my own wardrobe that will hopefully stir up some inspiration
  • share my love of fashion and provide looks for the everyday retail therapy lover (Let's face it. Not everyone can pull off a haute couture look!)
I'm really excited for this blog! I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and hope you will be inspired to dig through your closets and create a look that screams you! Remember! You don't have to spend a million dollars to look and feel like a million bucks :)
